Dapur Bali Mula gives you the experience of dining in a Balinese home, just like the locals. They don’t have a menu, they will just serve you anything that nature provides sometimes seasonally. Most often, they will serve fresh seafood from the nearby ocean, mixed vegetables with grated coconut sambal etc. There will be a local who will cook for you and serve you the food. For dessert, they will serve the local specialty of Daluman, which is a green grass jelly with coconut milk and palm sugar. Since there is no menu, there is no price list. You can pay upon donation for the prosperity of the local lives. Lastly, make sure to taste their homemade fermented alcoholic beverages. They have a whole facility for alcoholic drink making.
7. Garam Tejakula: Natural Salt Making
Tejakula salt was included in one of theNasdaily documentation for its very special salt. It is made with a very complicated process combining different types of ancient techniques. The local people who are still preserving this tradition are going extinct because of the hard labor work with little money. Their salt tastes a little less salty and more earthy compared to other salts because they corporated volcanic sands in the making. Lastly, you can purchase their salt to support the locals.
8. Find Deers in Menjangan Island
Menjangan Island is one of the national parks of Indonesia. It is a great option for snorkeling and diving experiences. A four-hour drive, and another hour crossing the island by boat, will serve you heavenly turquoise water with a dense marine ecosystem. It is famous for its thriving coral reefs and crystal-clear waters. The island’s underwater world is teeming with a diverse array of marine life, including colorful coral formations, fish species, and other marine creatures. Menjangan island is an inhabitant island populated by wild deer. You are not allowed to feed them though, because their population is protected by the authorities. You need to walk along the rivers from the parking spot for about 600 meters before riding the tube. This tubing activity costs only Rp. 30k for one ride, which includes a life vest, a helmet to protect your head, a knee pad, and a tube ride. Tube riding is exactly like sliding through a slide in a waterpark, but this one is by nature.
