Kelambu Waterfall is the name of one of the most famous Waterfalls in Lombok. When you heard the word Lombok, you must be thinking about the famous beaches like Seger Beach and their small islands. You are not wrong fellas, but it is so much more than that. Lombok is truly a hidden paradise. Every corner you explore is truly breathtaking. Not a lot of people found out about it, and it makes it even better. Sometimes you can have the beautiful spot all by yourself to enjoy!
Today we are going to explore one of the best parts of Lombok which is a Waterfall. The name of the Waterfall is Benang Kelambu Waterfall. It is easily accessible as you can search the place in Google Maps. But if you find it hard enough to reach it, don’t hesitate to ask the locals. There is only one small sign to reach the waterfall. It is usually an hour and a half drive from the main tourist spot of Kuta Beach. A tour package with a driver and a car could cost you a lot of money, so I suggested you to just rent a motorbike for Rp 50,000/day and stroll around Lombok by yourself. A true backpacker experience. For a backpacker insight of the waterfall, check out my vlog down below!
Once you get into the entrance you will find this breathtaking view of Benang Kelambu Waterfall. You will have to pay about IDR 5,000 to enter, not an expensive price. Be careful of scammers who are going to charge you for more, especially if you are not a local. On the entrance, you will see all of the exotic plantations surrounding the waterfall. You can even hear the sound of the water from afar. Fortunately, you can drive your motorbike into the site because the road had been paved for easier access.
Somehow it does resemble the view of the South American Rainforest. The difference is, this waterfall is much much safer from dangerous animals.
The water stream flows seemingly out of shrubs on the cliff. That is where they found the name of the Waterfall. Kelambu means curtain as the shrubs framed the waterfall.
Under the waterfall, you also will find two small pools for you to swim and relax. All you need to do is to enjoy nature, listen to the birds chirping. Don’t forget to take a deep breath of the fresh air and get yourself wet.
There are some food vendors where you can get the local favorite Kaput Rice, some drinks and snacks. But still, you should bring your own water bottle to reduce plastic use. To help preserve nature, you should keep all of your trash with you until you find a trash bin.
